Well, it certainly looks like The Local Church threw tons of money to the wind (and no, I'm not talking about donations they might have made to Hanegraaff's CRI.) “On December 1, 2006, the Texas Supreme Court denied review of the Local Church and Living Stream Ministry’s $136 million libel lawsuit against Harvest House Publishers and authors John Ankerberg and John Weldon. At issue in the case was the book Encyclopedia of Cults and New Religions (ECNR), which The Local Church claimed was defamatory of them.”*

This is a victory for Harvest House, John Ankerberg, and John Weldon—and a victory for Christians who believe that courts should not define the word cult. It has cost a great deal financially and personally: Dr. Norman Geisler submitted an Amicus Brief in support of Harvest House; Hank Hanegraaff and Gretchen Passantino submitted one in support of The Local Church. Between Preterism and The Local Church, it seems as if Hanegraaff took aim and blew off both his feet. You can read more about this here:

I sincerely hope this is the end of it.

Hmmm, HHH on the wrong side again?

Go figure.

Gretchen has sure changed since Bob died. It wasn't that many years ago that she was giving old Rich Agozino such a hard time about Calvinism v Arminianism on his Full Preterist show Crosstalk on KBRT.

Yes, a great deal has changed over the past few years. When I first met Bob and Gretchen, they were newlyweds. Time flies. As to HH . . . well, what can I say? Let's hope the wound is debilitating. :)

Paul Carden was the one who got HHH to settle for the wrongful termination suit, wasn't he?

I think we will not know the damage HHH did to the Lord's work thru Walter Martin's lifelong efforts until we get to heaven.

Major :(

edit my last:

"thru TRASHING Walter Martin's lifelong efforts..."

Left out the word "trashing" or disposing of which is what HHH did in personnel and material WM accumulated at CRI.

Yes, trashing took place, but God is still using the ministry He gave my father. And I thank Him for His promise . . .

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Rom 8:28-29

I hope I'm around to see the good happen at CRI.

I am glad that you have done your research. I notice you posted the apologetics index on your blog as a reference. That is great. The author of that website is Anton Hein. He is also on another website called DOJ.gov under meagans law, but you did your researched and all ready knew that. I pray that you do not support this man. There is a reason why he is in Holland and not the US. Keep up the good work!
