Keep in mind these old guys were in the drivers seat. They made the rules, and when it came to sex, opportunity was the narrative of doctrine. The temple sealing was the avenue to earthly, and eternal sex. The story of the mormon god Elohim coming to Earth is important to the narrative of sex and doctrine at its core. if the mormon God had to have sex with his daughter then it must be Okay and righteous for little ol jo and Brigham too. They were not trying to say that God had sex with Mary, but they were trying to dispel the modern Christian myth at the time that Jesus was the begotten of the Holy Spirit. They tried to ***ert that The Heavenly Father was Christ's only begotten in the Flesh.

If you go back and read the whole quotes they will always still refer to Mary as the Virgin Mary.

This is an old talking point that only made hay when people didn't have access to the whole quote and the history which drove it.

Ironically it is the AntiMormons who still try to keep the details secret.
