Melissa Schindle

Melissa Schindle, wife of Colonel George Schindle, made an affidavit on July 2, 1842 that was published in the Sangamo Journal on July 15, 1842. Mrs. Schindle said Joseph Smith asked "in the fall of 1841. if he could have the privilege of sleeping with her. [that] it was the will of the Lord that he should have illicit intercourse with her, and that he never proceeded to do any thing of that kind with any woman without first having the will of the Lord on the subject."

After Melissa rejected his offer, Smith reportedly said, "that she must never tell of his propositions to her, for he had all influence in that place [Nauvoo], and if she told he would ruin her character, and she would be under the necessity of leaving.

Again, you have got to be one of the most gullible AntiMomons out there.
First, Melissa could not write, nor even sign her name (she had to put an x) so given that, someone obviously wrote her account.... And by the verbiage it is obvious that that person was Bennett. The same person that was accused of having an affair with her, and because of that, and numerous other affairs, he was excommunicated. He then went around claiming it wasn't in fact him, but that it was Joseph Smith who was. So he would get these women to lie for him. The only problem was that he had already admitted to some of them, and lied about others affairs he had, which were later verified as true.
This is why most AntiMormons won't even use these references... But there are always the lazy AntiMormons who will still suck this stuff up as though it were true.
