Does any Mormon here know about a revelation to Joe Smith, first Mormon prophet, directing him to marry the wives of other good Mormon men? In my opinion, Joe "married" (actually used them as occasional mistresses) in order to cover up any "mistakes" he might make when engaging in sexual relations. After all, the "fruit" of his relationships (pregnancies) could be blamed on the legal husband and not Joe! Here is a quote from an interesting book:
"One woman said to me not very long since, while giving me some of her experiences in polygamy: 'The greatest trial I ever endured in my life was living with my husband and deceiving him, by receiving Joseph's attentions whenever he chose to come to me.'
Some of these women have since said they did not know who was the father of their children; this is not to be wondered at, for after Joseph's declaration annulling all Gentile marriages, the greatest promiscuity was practiced; and, indeed, all sense of morality seemed to have been lost by a portion at least of the church.
– Wife No. 19, 1876, pages 70-71
Another one of Smith's polyandrous wives (a woman married to another man legally) Presendia Hunter, stated:
"…say afterwards in Utah, that she did not know whether Mr. Buell [her legal husband] or the Prophet was the father of her son.” – Fifteen Years Among the Mormons: Being the Narrative of Mrs. Mary Ettie V. Smith, p.35
CES addresses these polyandrous marriages by Joe Smith and others (Brigham), and while we know the Mormon posters here will again deny facts, those looking in should be informed about the incredible evil sexual seductions Joseph Smith undertook in the name of the Mormon god:
