"For [at the Rapture] all the saints and Elect of God are gathered, prior to the Tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overwhelm the world because of our sins." - Ephraem the Syrian, A.D. 373 (Grant Jeffrey, Final Warning [Toronto, Canada: Frontier Research Publications, Inc., 1995], 306, as cited in John Hagee, From Daniel to Doomsday [Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1999], 114.):)

Could you explain exactly what it is you think this proves, and how it proves it?

One would think that would be apparent!:)

There is no such thing as a rapture. This invention is not very old. Scripture points out that the dead in christ will be raised first.1 thes 4 15,16

Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, 3 will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16
For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first

When christ comes for the second and only time he will raise the dead first then will raise his church.

What do you say to people that look at the sun and deny it's existence? That is what you're doing with Ephraem the Syrian's comment don't you know?:)

Given that you provide an extra-Biblical quotation that seemingly does not even contain the word, "Rapture" (since you added that part parenthetically), I see no evidence that you have "proven" that the Pre-Trib Rapture is a Biblically true doctrine. At best you have "proven" that something which may or may not be the Pre-Trib Rapture doctrine (depending on the accuracy of your parenthetical insertion) was known to someone named "Ephraem the Syrian" who lived in the 4th. C., not that said doctrine was or is "true."

That's why I asked exactly what you thought you'd proved.

The thing is here this is all based on somebody's interpreation of Ephraem the Syrians writings. Later on in his writings he talks about the end of time and the rapture(if you want to call it that) at the same time. And scripture is clear that the dead in chrisr will raise FIRST. And sinsc the dead will be raised at the end then that excluses any type of church rapture.

I'll consider it.:)

The pre-trib rapture teaching is a fable, as is the Antichrist teaching.

A very good post, and makes a strong point
