Asdf, it must be noted that the current discussion in the other thread is leading to this topic. I have to remark one thing about homosexual civic unions in the light of this topic. The Church's canon laws are seperate from the secular state's civic laws. Should a homosexual civil union not work out, due to either partner seeking a legitmate marriage with the opposite sex, that type of union would not be investigated by my Church since automatically it is not a proper marriage, but I am sure the couciling prior to the marriage in the Church would be more intensive. It is necessary for the spouse to know the person they are marrying and those things in his prior lifestyles is important to successfully provide a healthy or at least a lasting marriage where love can flurrish knowing the truth that builds up trust.

Because civil law is based on the State's own process, it plays no important role in the church's own extention of its faith. The State should by no means have the power to dictate to any religious organization how it is to conduct themselves when it comes to allowing a homosexual union. This is why your demand for civil equality is also a civil injustice. The discussion between us only needs to focus on the role of the Church as it applies to Scripture and Tradition or the traditions of each faith claiming to be Christian. You as such claim to be Christian, but endorse homosexual marriage when the Scripture never teach it, nor the history of Christianity as an overall community does not support such either. I therefore take issue with your brand of Christianity as disingenuous.
