I'm a BIG fan of Walter Martin. He is totally awesome. I use his materials to prove to the jw's and mormons that they are wrong and other cults like Imago Dei. I'm a non-denom and I've been serving the Lord for over 20 years and keeps getting better and better.
I vigorously defend historical Christianity.
I'm from Texas and I work in the IT field.
I love debating cults because I want to see them get out of the deception.

Thanks,
TT

What exactly is "Imago Dei?"

Googling it seems to present the "Image of God" based of interpreting a specific passage of Genesis.
I have notice that there is a Catholic ministry that is really based off one parish in Las Vegas that seems to be a ministry to gay/lesbians. However, in looking at their site, I do not think this ministry endorses homosexual acts, but just recognizes that some people have the inclination for same sex attraction and seems to suggest chasity for these people. However, I think such a ministry is a mistake since they leave out the rest of the statements that discuss chasity and homosexuality. It also seems to encourage in their image a prelude to affirming homosexual acts since the Public Relations aspect of it chooses to ignore or not state the rest of the comments by the Catholic Church which are even more official in regards to homosexuality and the rainbow colored linen wrapped around the cross suggests to me homosexual pride and Catholicism or Christianity in general is compatible--which they are not. I think I shall write that ministry and see if I can get more information.

There does seem to be links to other Protestant churches with that name, and it appears that they would be in some agreement with mainline Protestant churches in the nature of God in Trinity, and in Christ's nature. So I guess I would like to know more about what "Imago Dei" you are referencing. Could you clarify the cult "Imago Dei?"

What exactly is "Imago Dei?"

It all started many many years ago here in my town in West Texas. My boss had told me about a couple in his church. The husband and wife and kids were driving to a bigger town and the husband heard the Imago Dei radio broadcast and how everyone can become a god. They gave a phone number and when they got back he called it and talked to the hireling. He started going to church over there but his wife resisted. They told him at their church to strip down naked in front of a mirror at his house and to tell himself that he is a god.
His wife told him if he doesn't get out of the church she's going to divorce him and that's what happened.
Then a few weeks after that I seen in our local newspaper one of their ads. They had full page ad that said everyone is saved and they gave verses.
So I called them up and asked them if I could come over and talk to them.
They said they had a mid-week Bible study. So I went over to some woman's house where they were meeting. I asked them if they believe that everyone is going to Heaven? They said yes and they even mentioned Hitler and satan will be there. So I had to start schooling them on the basics of the Bible.
The prerequisite to going to Heaven is to believe. So I quoted John 3:16 and told them that God does not make robots. God's love is to pure to force us to love Him. God wants people to to willingly love Him. We kept ranting and raving about their doctrine and the leader would try to go off on rabbit trails because he was being made a fool. After four hours of debating, they said they would get back with me. It's been over six years and they have never gotten back with me.

Thanks,
TT
