SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimisation”. One cannot downgrade a website, using this technology; one can only use it to enhance a particular range of websites.
Search engines like Google, Bing and, Yahoo use “web spiders” to interrogate websites on metatags (key words), related links both quan***y and depth, access limitations, number of related websites quan***y and depth. They use complex, continually changing, algorithms to examine and define that information to rank websites on their suitability for casual inquirers.
In order to effectively optimise ones websites you need to have experts continually examining the current algorithms being used by the Search Engines. This can be quite expensive for a corporation. Fortunately we have many, highly qualified in Internet Technology, Church members who volunteer to do this.
The next ranking level is based on “clicks” to websites that appear on the “ranking list”, that is why I have appealed to LDS posters not to post to this anti-LDS site.
Very few people would type into a Search Engine, whilst investigating the Lord’s Church, “Walter Martin” they would be much more likely to type in “Mormon”, LDS”, “Joseph Smith”, “Brigham Young”, or polygamy.
So what our SEO experts do is optimise the numerous LDS official, and approved unofficial websites like FAIR, to be optimised for these “keyword searches”.
This increases the “clicks” and promotes our sites ahead of the anti-LDS sites.
If you want to test it, type into Google the word “Mormon” and see what ranking Walter Martin or CARM has?
I do hope this explains to all there is no “conspiracy” only the use of technology.
