As for Novato, I think there is a decent chance he is right about it being better to boycott the site and let it die than to participate and help it survive. I haven't yet made up my mind, but I am thinking the merit of his suggestion over.
By all means leave if that what you feel is best for you.. It puzzles me that you or any LDS would hold that as the proper action that should be taken.. Do you believe that only the Christian that post here have ever read your posts? It is though my faith in the power of the Holy Spirit that He doesn't allow His word to go forth void.. I believe many see my posts and I try therefore to make then as factual as I can.
The LDS are the only religion I have ever heard of that have made an attack of other religions part of their scripture.. This is of course done in JSH 19. Oh but you can say that these aren't Smith's words but those of Jesus.. Jesus told us that everything EVERYTHING needs to be established by two or three witnesses and yet this Vision is taken for truth on the testimony of one man.. So you have an unwitnessed attack on the Christian Church built right into your foundational church teachings. Did Moses dictate to the children of Israel without a witness to his calling?
Exodus 24:9-10
Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
Was Smith prophetic gift established before the world in the same way Moses' gift was so established? NO! Even the testimony of the three witnesses was accomplished with spiritual eyes and not with their natural eyes.. In a memorandum given by John H. Gilbert, Esq. (the typesetter of the original BofM) on Sept. 8th, 1892, in Palmyra, N.Y. he asked Martin Harris "Martin, did you see those plates with your naked eyes?" Martin looked down for an instant, raised his eyes up, and said, "No, I saw them with a spiritual eye." Is that the same thing as what the Bible tells us the seventy of the Elders of Israel experienced on Sinai? Doesn't sound like the same thing at all!
As for ignoring the questioning of your faith as Novato is calling you to do; The Holy Spirit through Peter makes a decidedly different call.
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear
By all means heed the call of a man and ignore the commandment of God.. IHS jim
