    Default Age old question

Why does God let random shootings, fatal accidents, and other horrible things occur?
Since we believe that God is the author of this planet and is sovereign over it, it's inevitable
that we ask where He is when these terrible things take place. Anyone have any thoughts on
    this?

it is the old question asked in the book of ***...."why Lord?"

And in the book of *** we have an answer to this question....However that answer is not the nice little answer we are all looking for.
We dont get an answer that allows us to add things up and have the sum total clearly show us the reason that we can agree with.

We dont get an answer that allows us to look back at all the suffering and pain in the world and think that in the end it was "all worth it"

The answer we got is that we are different than God.
Our way is thinking is not His way...Our way of ***igning values to things is not God's way.
and in the end, we are to trust in Him...

Trust God,without understanding the answer to the "why Lord?" question.

    Hi Alan,
If there were no sin in the world, there would be no suffering. There would be no fatal accidents, no random shootings. Because sin is present in the world, suffering is present in the world, but it doesn't always work out that if you have five pounds of guilt, you're going to get five pounds of suffering.Death and suffering entered the world as a direct result of sin and the consequences of sin effect everyone even the seemingly innocent.

the answer God came up with , is the cross of Christ.

via the cross all suffering is ended,,all death.,,all pain...all guilt...

    Evil.

Much has been written about this you may already know. Yes, God is sovereign, but He “cannot be tempted by evil”. (James 1:13)

With this in mind, though nothing gets by Him, as this verse shows, an all-encomp***ing isn’t quite as full from God as one might first think, for evil has not yet been vanquished. IMO, if James 5:17 is brought before Him from “a righteous man”, this would not let evil happen to at least some degree.

Yet it remains on record, He won’t leave us as orphans. Against that evil, He offers hope as you recall to prepare with:

“Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” (Revelation 3:10)

“"But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man." (Luke 21:36)

Right there in v36 was another iteration of your question. That is, a solid confirmation that it won’t stop right up to that terrible time forecasted:

“because these are days of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be fulfilled.” (Luke 21:22)

Again, His advice to the flock is our comfort in several areas for instance:

“When you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified;” (Luke 21:9)

    Mike.
